There’s a couple that we know through Craig’s work who just had twins (a boy and a girl) about a month-and-a-half ago. We’ll call them J (the dad) and K (the mom). This is my husband’s email to me about their situation.
K got a call this afternoon from the hospital checking to be sure that the pediatrician had talked to them “about Kate’s negative test results.” Apparently they do a standard blood test when kids are born and send the results on to the pediatrician. She called the pediatrician and they never received the results. They’re trying to get in touch with the hospital to track them down.
J of course started doing his own research and said the things they test for are progressive problems that start out as nothing but could result in retardation if not monitored. One of them is as simple as an allergy to a basic ingredient in baby formula. And the only side effect of the allergy is brain damage.
They’re waiting on a call back from the pediatrician now, but are concerned because of the wording of the call. They specifically mentioned Kate’s negative test results. Nothing about their son.
So, as you can see, this may end up being nothing, or it could be very, very serious. Please be praying for them and their doctors.
