Nathan had his “one year” checkup yesterday. He’s 13 months, but he had all of his one year shots and his well baby appointment. He’s 22 lbs, 7 ounces and 30 inches long. 30th percentile for length and 50th percentile for weight. His doctor said he’s meeting all of his milestones and looks great. Go Nathan!
On another, somewhat funny, note: the doctor had never seen a cloth diaper before. He said: “What kind of diaper is that?!” So I explained it to him and he said “Oh. I bet that saves money.” It made me want to laugh.
In other updates, Nathan is not walking on his own yet, but will walk while holding on with only one hand. He can stand up without holding on to anything and will stand on his own for what seems like forever.
His vocabulary is expanding like crazy. Words he says consistently: ball, uh oh, milk, juice, down, clock, dog, duck, more, and book. Words he say sometimes: dada, cat, bird, chicken, cheese and keys (these sound the same), eye, toe, and choo choo. He can point to our eyes and nose when we ask him to and he will sometimes grab his toes when we ask where his toes are. He LOVES to look at books and wants us to read to him whenever he sees one. The Baby Einsteins “Animals in my Neighborhood” is his favorite DVD. He tries to say the names of all the animals when they come up.
He’s still wearing cloth diapers and we may be trying cloth wipes soon. I’ll let you know how that goes.
